Lunch at The Ivy, Harrogate

The Ivy chain of restaurants is taking over the UK. It's always been on my wish list to go for lunch at Covent Garden and to have Whispering Angel wine poured at my table in a giant bottle. But it seems it's no longer a trip to London that is needed, I can just pop to my local branch in York, Harrogate and Leeds. Where they offer a similar menu.

I visited the  The Ivy, Harrogate last June, and probably another 6 times since then across the other local branches. It’s super easy to book at table using the Open Table App and if you change your mind you can just access your booking and cancel. I think this part is really important, some places make it so difficult to get booked in and I have never once had an issue so far.

It was a Saturday afternoon when we arrived 40 mins early for our table, so we asked if it was possible to sit at the bar until it was time, it wasn't a problem, we were shown straight to the bar to take a seat. The bar was beautiful surrounded by glasses and of course that giant bottle of Whispering Angel was chilling on ice in a copper bucket. I said to the girls, yasss we need a glass

We were taking in all the beautiful decor when we spotted a gorgeous table right in the heart of the restaurant, it was beaming in the sunshine as it had a glass roof above then surrounded by blooms. We were so pleased when we found out that was going to be our table.

We each had 3 courses from the main menu, which was the seasonal summer menu.
For my starter, I ordered the burrata with sliced peaches, almonds, pesto and olives, it was so delicious and so beautifully presented.

I was surprised at the traditional choices on the menu like fish & chips or cottage pie, but I decided to try the Truffle chicken sandwich topped with an egg and fries.

We were so full but the dessert menu sounded so delicious so we still ordered, I had the lemon and basil baked Alaska, it was quite savoury considering it was a dessert but it was light and fluffy meringue and so beautifully presented. But the star of the dessert show was what Kirsty ordered the chocolate bombe, presented at the table then the waiter poured over a hot sauce and the chocolate shell melted!

It isn't cheap to eat here, but you don't have to opt for 3 courses, and there is a set menu if you wanted to choose from a smaller selection compared to the main menu. With drinks and 3 courses, we each spent around £60 a head. This is due to the Whispering Angel or cocktails costing around £9 each.

Pizza on the beach

Last Tuesday night, I was living #pizzagoals by having pizza on the beach with my friend Ailey.

I’ve been work tripping to Poole, Dorset for 5 years so I know my way round and my friends introduce me to the best places. Baffi Pizza has to be one of my favourite places to get a slice.

We ordered to takeout from the one at Canford Cliffs so then it was only 3 mins in the car to Branksome chine beach which has a little car park. Bonus as well that on a Tuesday this branch does by one get one free on collections.

After parking up we found a little spot in the sun and there was only one pesky seagull trying his luck.

Epic pizza is so hard to find so I highly recommend giving Baffi a try if you are nearby one of the branches. I ordered #4, Parma ham, cherry tomatoes, ricotta, rocket, tomato, mozzarella & basil, usually £11.80 - Ailey ordered #6 ham, mushrooms, artichokes, black olives, tomato, mozzarella, parmesan & basil usually £13.90

After a while there was no sun left, so we walked off the delicious pizza with a walk along the prom towards Bournemouth. Some really cute beach huts along there.
