Lemon Donuts and perfect coffee at Darkwoods

Oh how I miss my monthly visit to Dark Woods events! Dark Woods Coffee is a coffee roaster, barista school and a monthly pop-up café based in Marsden about 10 mins drive from Huddersfield centre. 

My family and I have been visiting monthly for the last year and we really enjoy going, it’s great place to meet and catch up. Sometimes it’s mega busy and we can't get a seat, but it’s worth the wait.You can take your coffee to go and there is limited seating outside if the sun is shining. 

There is usually a Rumpus truck where you can get some delicious fried chicken with spicy mayo or a yummy bacon roll... This is an epic food truck! (Restaurant & takeaway is based in Slaithwaite and does amazing burgers!).

Back to coffee, as Darkwoods is only open once a month it is basic inside but the tables and chairs are cool and comfy. The coffee is perfect every time, you can even pick up a pack of fresh coffee beans or grounded so you can try to recreate delicious coffee at home. 

There is a small selection of cakes on the counter, so don't head here for breakfast, this is a coffee and cake type of spot. But no regrets, its awesome and I am really missing it. 

The best sweet treat I did pick up one time here was a lemon donut by Holly, I highly recommend!  I will let you know when it opens again and here is for hoping they increase their opening times to twice a month.

Yellow cups at The Depot Bakery

As one of my first posts on my coffee account, I went on a double date to The Depot Bakery, Sheffield for brunch. 

We were able to park nearby on the road, then what we found was an amazing hub of food and lifestyle at Kelham Island. 

There was a short wait for a table at The Depot Bakery, but it wasn't long and it was worth the wait.

I ordered the scrambled eggs for breakfast with a side of bacon with a flat white ofc.

I then couldn't resist ordering another coffee to go with one of the amazing cakes from the counter.. 

I chose the Blackberry Coconut Friand which was a gorgeous moist sweet treat. Friands are usually smaller than a cupcake and are frangipane based with fruit. 

Perfect flat whites can be found here... can't wait to go back!

Over time my passion for coffee and finding the perfect Flat White has grown. I enjoy taking photos of picture perfect cups and sharing them as I go. Its always good to plan where you can get a coffee if you are going somewhere new.

Flat Whites Forever is my instagram account where I want to share reviews of great coffee usually with my independent coffee guide in hand.

I am going to be writing up the coffee shops I have been to so far, then trying to post more on the go once I am up to date.

Most coffee shops I visit often are based near Leeds (W Yorkshire, UK) but I frequently visit Durham / Newcastle and in between. I sometimes travel for work so I get the opportunity to discover coffee on the go.
